What are the Alpha Sessions?

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation. This is what you will talk about:

First sessions –

1. Is there more?

2. Who is Jesus?

3. Why did Jesus die?

4. How can you believe?

5. Prayer: why and how?

6. Reading the Bible: why and how?

7. How does God lead us?

During the Alpha weekend –

8. Who is the Holy Spirit?

9. What does the Holy Spirit do?

10. How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit?

11. What next?

After the weekend sessions –

12. How can I resist evil?

13. Why and how do I tell others?

14. Does God still heal today?

15. What about the church?

How long does Alpha last approximately?

Alpha is typically 9-12 weeks long. But each Alpha is unique – one Alpha lasts just a week longer and another Alpha completes the course after nine weeks. However, there is no pressure or follow-up if you decide not to come back after the first session.

What is the Alpha weekend?

The Alpha weekend is usually organized halfway through the course. And it’s one big party! For a weekend there is time to talk to each other, hear more about the Holy Spirit, pray and of course enjoy a nice meal, play games and do other fun things.

During the Alpha weekend you will hear more about who the Holy Spirit is, what He does and how you can be filled with the Holy Spirit. You round off the weekend with the introduction ‘What next?’. You will also come together with your regular small group to discuss further the topics that have been discussed.
